Jeffrey Delano Davis

Jeffrey Delano Davis is a writer, filmmaker, performer, and artist whose work moves between narrative film, experimental video, visual art, and whatever strange frequency the unconscious happens to be broadcasting that day.

Originally from Boston, Jeffrey later moved to New York City’s East Village, where he managed a coffee shop by day and performed Shakespeare downtown by night. That love of language and performance eventually led him to the MFA Acting program at Rutgers University and then into a twenty-year acting career in New York.

Over time, he began shifting from performing other people’s words to writing and directing his own. His film work includes the short film Three Sonnets, distributed by ShortsTV, and the award-winning documentary The Art of Catastrophe, distributed by CUNY TV in New York City. His experimental film Digital Automatic Writing has screened at festivals worldwide and was showcased at the Allentown Museum of Art.

Much of Jeffrey’s recent work explores memory, identity, grief, imagination, and the bizarre private logic of the mind. He is especially drawn to stories that are heartfelt but formally adventurous.

He lives in Monmouth County, New Jersey with his wife, Maria, and their children, Vera and Josie, who continue to keep him grounded, inspired, and mildly sane.

Digital Automatic Writing! is a fascinating collection of oddly therapeutic animated sketches and words that collide sporadically on screen.

‘Digital Automatic Writing!’ has a strong, emotive impact from each of the shorts within this anthology piece, and it would live well in a museum setting due to its artistic aspects.
